BREAKING: Senate leadership in emergency meeting over changed budget

Reports have surfaced that the 2016 budget uploaded on the Budget office website is different from what was submitted to the National Assembly by President Muhammadu Buhari back in December.

According to a source, who pleaded anonymity, the Senate leadership is currently in an emergency session in Senate President, Bukola Saraki’s office.

This is coming shortly after the 2016 Budget was reported missing.

The source revealed that in the Budget submitted last year, the BMW cars for legislators was N3.63bn, but in the current version, it has now been reduced down to N340m.

Also, the new budget now has an added a N3.9bn for annual routine maintenance of villa facilities which was not in the original budget.

According to our source, other changes that were discovered in the uploaded budget includes the movement of N100m from the Office of the Presidency budget and the creation of a special line to the Offices of the Chief of Staff to President, Chief of Security to President and to State House and and to Lagos Liason Office.

Also the National Assembly discovered that the budgetary allocation of the Police has been combined with that of Interior to justify the increase from N145bn to N428bn.

This, coupled with the fact that Budget Office is just uploading the budget, is validating claims that the budget was sneaked out of the National Assembly on the orders of Buhari.
