The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has written to the Daily Trust newspaper stating that there are five cars in his convoy and not six as the paper reported.
Daily Trust published a recent report on the Buhari administration’s change agenda and cost-cutting measures. In response, Mohammed said that while the paper was correct in stating that the new government is cutting the cost of governance, it goofed by stating that there were six cars (four Toyota Land cruiser SUVs and two Hilux vans) in his convoy instead of five.
“The fact is that if the minister moves with his aides, who occupy one vehicle, he has a three-vehicle convoy plus two pilot vehicles. If he is without his aides, he has a two-vehicle convoy plus the two pilot vehicles. The minister’s back-up vehicle is also used by the security details,” said Joseph Mutah, the minister’s press secretary, in a statement.
