Pipeline attacks: Gbaramatu students condemn military siege

The National Association of Gbaramatu Students (NAGS) has condemned the military siege to some Gbaramatu communities by the military in the wake of recent bombing of pipeline.

This was contained in a press statement issued yesterday in Warri by Comrade Ekpemupolo Seiyefa, President, and Comrade Ituebi. I. Onimide, Secretary General.

The statement said that the military action could be best described as Rambo-like invasion as the perpetrators could be invaders from other places whose ulterior motive is to bring the kingdom down.

“The invasion of Okpeleama, a community in Gbaramatu is reminiscent of the 2009 military invasion of the kingdom, leaving the inhabitants of the kingdom with a mixed feeling of war and terror.

“Consequently, people have started relocating to other places for safety. The invasion has further crippled academic, economic and social activities in the peace-loving and law-abiding kingdom.

“In the midst of this undeserving anarchy and strife sponsored by the Federal Government and the JTF in the kingdom, it is appalling to know that the people of Gbaramatu know little or nothing as regards the reason for the invasion.
