Cameroon forces kill 100 Boko Haram fighters, free 900 hostages

The Cameroon Troops on Wednesday claimed it has killed more than 100 Boko Haram fighters and freed 900 hostages captured by the militant Islamists during a three-day raid last week.

"A special clean-up operation from November 26 to 28" against Boko Haram in the border area with Nigeria "neutralized more than 100 jihadists," Defense Minister Joseph Beti Assomo said in a statement broadcast on national radio, AFP reported.

There has been no independent confirmation of the operation in Cameroon's remote Far North region.
