IMF boss Lagarde arrives Nigeria ahead of economic talks with Buhari

Christine Lagarde pictured while arriving in Nigeria on Monday January 4 to begin a four day official visit to the country aimed at fostering a strong relationship with Nigeria and other African member countries.

The IMF Managing Director will also meet with Buhari Tuesday to discuss the country's economic crisis fueled by plunging oil prices.

She said,''I look forward to productive meetings with President Buhari and policymakers with business leaders, prominent women, and representatives of civil society as they address important economic challenges, most importantly the impact of low oil prices. I want to share the Fund's views, but first and foremost, I am here to listen. Nigeria is working hard to improve its business environment, promote opportunities for growth in the private sector, and strengthen social cohesion, all areas where the government has an important role to play.''

Lagarde, after her stay in Nigeria will also visit Cameroon.
