Governor Okezie Ikpeazu condemns attempt to disturb peace in Abia state

Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has condemned today's incidence in Aba where a protest by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) was allowed to degenerate into public disturbance.

The Governor frowns at the disobedience to government earlier directive banning all forms of protest in the state, by the protesters and those behind them.

The Governor wondered why the same protests have been going on peacefully in other states but have been hijacked by opposition political elements in Abia State who are seeking to hide behind the IPOB group to foment trouble in the State.

Governor Ikpeazu reiterates that the Abia State Government will partner with the Federal Government to ensure the protection of live and property within the Nigerian territory, and therefore directs law enforcement agencies in the state to ensure vigilance and not to allow any group under any guise disturb the peace and tranquillity of Abia State.

The State Governor encourages Abians to go about their lawful businesses without fear of disruption and gave the assurance that in a short while, brand new vehicles and equipments will be distributed to law enforcement agencies in Abia State to improve security in the State.

Governor Ikpeazu reiterate that all forms of protest by any group or persons remain banned in the state.
