A resident of the area told TheCable that the incident happened around 3pm.
Yakubu Dati, spokesman of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), confirmed the report but said he does not have details.
“It is true but we are still trying to piece the information together. The appropriate agencies are mobilising on site. So, we are waiting for information,” he told TheCable.
However, Ibrahim Farinloye, spokesman for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in the south-west, said three bodies have been recovered from the lagoon and those who sustained injuries have been taken to the hospital.
