Chelsea remain the favourites to retain their crown - Arsene Wenger says at press conference

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is speaking at his press conference Friday August 7 ahead of Arsenal vs West Ham opening match on Sunday August 9 of the 2015/16 season.

The 65-year-old French football manager has declared that Arsenal are ready to fight for the Premier League title but concedes that Chelsea remain the favourites to retain their crown.

"Chelsea won it by a margin last year so they must be favourites,'' Wenger told reporters. ''We are ready to fight for the championship. We missed our start to the season last year, let's try to start strong. But we have a difficult start with two derbies and Liverpool in our first three games. We enjoy [the pressure of being talked of as title winners]. Before, no one talked about us like that! We're past that period."

Wenger on Alexis Sanchez.

"He played a World Cup, played a whole season, the Copa America and cannot start the season. He came back in good shape and should be available to play in 10 days."

Wenger on Petr Cech.

"He's integrated very well. He's a good communicator, is experienced and has class."

 Wenger on Jack Wilshere.

"He'll play with the same confidence and desire when he comes back. "It's bad luck and purely accidental. He's down but he's coping with it."
