Floyd Mayweather and Andre Berto hold WBC bout during the press conference in Los Angeles on Thursday August 6 ahead of their upcoming fight.
The 38-year-old American professional boxer claims that his bout with Andre Berto at the MGM Grand on Sept. 12 will be the last of his career. No one much believes him.
"I chose Berto because he's very exciting," Mayweather told reporters.
Mayweather has faced a storm of criticism since announcing earlier this week he will face the unfancied Berto.
''I've been getting backlash, (Berto) has been getting backlash,'' Mayweather said. ''No one is forced to buy the fight. I appreciate it, but no one is forced to buy it. But they always tune in. They say one thing but they do another.''
"How many championships has Khan won? Two. Berto has also won two," Mayweather said when he and Berto came face to face on Thursday at the press conference to launch the countdown to the fight.
The 31-year-old former world champion, was a surprise choice having lost three of his past six fights.
The unbeaten champion faces compatriot Berto (30-3) and would extend his winning run to 49 fights with victory.
