The 22-year-old English singer who called it quits two weeks ago, was lucky to hold on to Little Mix star Perrie Edwards, 22, for as long as he did.
"Her friends are rallying around her. She's doing fine," a source told E! News. "They split a few weeks ago. Her close friends have told her she's better off without him."
"He hasn't treated her right for a long time," the insider says, adding that Perrie "is doing great."
Perrie Edwards and Zayn Malik got engaged in August 2013.
Perrie breaks her silence when asked in an interview with E! News in Los Angeles: ''Perrie, obviously I know it's a very tough time for you with the news breaking today about you and Zayn, so your fans, I know, are heartbroken.''
The singer appeared emotional, but replied: ''I'm good, thank you.''
Malik broke his silence with a meaningful photo below of a lotus flower picture resting on the keys of a piano late Tuesday August 4.
Malik hinted that he is focusing on his job with the musical instrument in the photo.
The lotus flower has a very distinct meaning, and is one of the most iconic floral symbols, associated with beauty and purity in many different cultures.
